Use this file to discover all available pages before exploring further.

The global search bar sits at the top of every view in Family Folder. Start typing and matching files and folders appear instantly — no page reload, no waiting. Search works across file names, folder names, and the names of the people who uploaded them, so you can find what you need however you remember it. Click the search bar at the top of the screen and start typing. Results appear in a dropdown as you type. You can:
  • Click a folder result to navigate directly into that folder.
  • Click a file result to open it in the inline preview.
  • Press Enter or click See all results to open the full results page for your query.
Press Esc at any time to dismiss the search dropdown and return focus to the page. On desktop you can also press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) to jump straight to the search bar from anywhere in the app.

Filtering results

Click the sliders icon on the right side of the search bar to reveal the filter chips. Three filters are available:

Active filters are highlighted on the sliders icon so you can see at a glance when a filter is applied. Click Clear in the filter chips area to reset all filters back to their defaults.

Privacy and search results

Search only shows you files and folders you have permission to see — files you own, or files in shared folders you have been given access to. It is not possible to discover files belonging to another family member unless they have explicitly shared them with you.
Search also includes items in your Bin in the full results view, shown in a separate section so deleted files don’t get mixed up with active ones. Bin results follow the same privacy rules.

How results are ranked

Results are scored by how closely the name matches your query:
  1. Exact match on the file or folder name — ranked highest
  2. Name starts with your query
  3. A word in the name starts with your query
  4. Name contains your query anywhere
  5. Folder name or uploader name partially matches — used as a tiebreaker when the file name itself doesn’t match
Within each score tier, more recently updated items appear first.
