Privacy and search results
Search only shows you files and folders you have permission to see — files you own, or files in shared folders you have been given access to. It is not possible to discover files belonging to another family member unless they have explicitly shared them with you.Search also includes items in your Bin in the full results view, shown in a separate section so deleted files don’t get mixed up with active ones. Bin results follow the same privacy rules.
How results are ranked
Results are scored by how closely the name matches your query:- Exact match on the file or folder name — ranked highest
- Name starts with your query
- A word in the name starts with your query
- Name contains your query anywhere
- Folder name or uploader name partially matches — used as a tiebreaker when the file name itself doesn’t match
