Your profile settings control how you appear to other family members and how you sign in. You can reach them at any time by navigating to Profile settings from the app.

Display name

Your display name is what other members of your family see next to your files and folders. It defaults to the part of your email address before the @ sign, but you can change it to anything you like.

Open Profile settings

From the app, select your avatar or navigate to Profile settings.

Edit your name

Type your new name in the Display name field.

Save

Select Save. The change takes effect immediately across all your family’s views.
Your display name cannot be blank. If you clear the field and try to save, the app will prompt you to enter a name before continuing.

Email address

Your email address is the one you use to sign in. Changing it requires you to confirm the new address before it takes effect.

Enter your new email

Type the new address into the New email field.

Submit the change

Select Change email. Family Folder sends a confirmation link to your new address (and a notice to your current one).

Click the confirmation link

Open the email at your new address and click the confirmation link. Your address only changes after you confirm.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, check your spam folder. Your old email address remains active until you confirm the new one.

Password

You can set a new password from Profile settings at any time. Passwords must be at least 8 characters long.

Enter a new password

Type your new password into the New password field.

Confirm the password

Re-enter the same password in the Confirm new password field.

Save

Select Update password. You’ll see a confirmation once the change is saved.
If you signed in with Google, Family Folder does not manage your password — it’s handled by your Google account. The password section will not appear for Google sign-in users.

App theme

Family Folder supports three appearance modes. You can switch between them at any time and the change takes effect instantly.

Select your preferred option in the Appearance section of Profile settings.

Delete your account

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. All of your personal folders, files, and data are removed immediately. You are also removed from your family. Before you delete, consider exporting any files you want to keep.
If you are the only Family Administrator, you must transfer the administrator role to another member in Family Settings before you can delete your account.

Open Profile settings

Navigate to Profile settings and scroll to the Danger zone section.

Select Delete my account

Select the Delete my account button.

Confirm by typing your email

In the confirmation dialog, type your full email address exactly as shown, then select Delete account.
Once confirmed, your account is deleted and you are signed out immediately.
