Family Folder lets you bring your household together in one private vault. Both Family Administrators and Family Owners can send invites — either directly to an email address or via a shareable link that anyone with the URL can use to join.

Before you invite

Only Family Administrators and Family Owners can send invitations. Family Members cannot invite others.
Check your plan’s member limit before inviting:

If you’ve reached your limit, the Invite button is disabled. Upgrade your plan in Family Settings → Plan & billing to add more seats.

Sending an invitation

Open Family Settings and click Invite in the Members section. From there, choose how you’d like to send the invite.
Send an invitation directly to someone’s email address. They receive a message with a one-click link to join.
1

Open the invite dialog

In Family Settings, click Invite. The dialog opens with the Email tab selected by default.
2

Enter the email address

Type the recipient’s email address in the Email field (for example, name@example.com).
3

Choose a role

Select the role you want to assign:
  • Family Member — standard access, cannot invite others
  • Family Owner — can invite and manage Family Members
See roles and permissions for a full breakdown.
4

Send the invite

Click Create invite. Family Folder sends an email to the address you entered. The button briefly shows a confirmation, then the dialog closes automatically.
If the email fails to send, Family Folder still creates the invite. You can copy the invite link from the Pending invitations list and share it manually.

What happens when someone accepts

When a recipient opens the invite link, Family Folder asks them to sign in (or create an account) if they aren’t already. Once signed in, they see the family name and the role they’ve been invited as, and can choose to Accept or Decline. Accepting is a single click. Family Folder adds them to your family immediately and redirects them to the app.
If the person accepting the invite is already in a different family, accepting will move them out of their current family. If their current family has no other members, it is archived automatically.

Invite expiry

All invitations — both email and link — expire 7 days after they are created. After expiry, the link shows an “invite has expired” message and cannot be used. To re-invite someone after an invite expires, create a new invite from Family Settings.

Revoking a pending invite

You can cancel a pending invitation at any time before it is accepted.
1

Open Family Settings

Scroll down to the Pending invitations section.
2

Find the invite

Pending invites show the recipient’s email address (or “Shareable link” for link-based invites), the assigned role, and the expiry date.
3

Revoke the invite

Click Revoke next to the invite you want to cancel. The link becomes invalid immediately.
You can also copy the link for any pending invite directly from the Pending invitations list using the copy icon — handy if you need to resend it.
