Family Folder notifies you when things happen in your shared space — when a file is uploaded, a folder is shared with you, or a calendar event is added. You can view these notifications in the app and opt out of email notifications at any time.

Accessing the notifications panel

The notification bell icon in the top header opens the notifications panel. When you have unread notifications, a badge on the bell shows the count (up to 99+). Select the bell to open the panel as a slide-in drawer on the right side of the screen.

What triggers a notification

Notifications are grouped into three categories:
TypeWhen it appears
File uploadedA family member uploads a file to a folder you have access to
Folder sharedA folder is shared with you
Calendar eventA calendar event is created or updated in your family
Notifications are listed in two groups: Today and Earlier. Unread notifications are highlighted and marked with a blue dot.

Reading and marking notifications

Selecting a notification marks it as read and navigates you directly to the relevant file or folder. If you want to clear all unread notifications at once, select Mark all read in the panel header.
The panel shows your 50 most recent notifications. Older notifications are not displayed but your activity history is available within the app based on your plan.

Email notifications

Family Folder may send you emails for certain activity in your family. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time.
Every notification email from Family Folder includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Select it to go directly to the email preferences page, where you can confirm the opt-out with one click. You do not need to be signed in.
Once confirmed via the link in the email, no further notification emails will be sent to that address.
Unsubscribing only affects Family Folder notification emails. It does not affect transactional emails such as account confirmation or password reset messages.
